Is Your Family Helping You Lose?
Find out if here if your clan is contributing to your plan.
1
It's nearing the end of the day, and with dinner, homework, bills and housework, it's looking like you definitely won't have time to exercise. What does your husband say when you tell him this?
"Oh well. Maybe you'll have more time tomorrow."
"Why don't I make dinner so you have time to walk?"
"I knew you wouldn't be able to keep this exercise thing up."
2
Does your family ever call you weight-related names like "fatty" or "chubby"?
No. They know that would hurt me.
Yes, all the time.
Yes, sometimes. But only because they're worried about me, and they think it will help motivate me to lose weight.
3
Which is closest to the last thing your spouse said to you about losing weight?
"If you don't lose weight, you're going to have a heart attack. Do you want to die young?"
"If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know."
"I'm worried about you. Thats all."

All the junk food in the house is just too tempting. What do your kids say when you tell them you need to get rid of it?
"ALL of it?!"
"Why does this stupid diet have to affect us?"
"OK. Do you need help throwing it away?"
5
How do your family meals look since you started trying to lose weight?
Exactly the same, except I have a separate dish for me in keeping with my plan.
Lighter and lower in fat and calories.
There's a balance between the foods we used to eat, and foods that are plan-friendly so everybody can get something he or she likes.

When you told your wife you were going to start exercising more, she said:
"How about we be exercise buddies? I should exercise more, too, and this way well be more likely to do it."
"Whatever."
"Good. You need to exercise."

The scale shows a loss. What does your husband say when you tell him?
"Wow! That's so great. I knew you could do it. What can we do to celebrate?"
"OK. So now you have 25 pounds to go."
I don't tell him. For some reason, he doesn't like to hear about my weight loss.

Friday nights are usually your stay-in-and-pig-out nights, but now that you're losing weight you want to do things a little differently. Is your family up for a change?
No way. In fact, they're kind of mad that I suggested it.
Yes. In fact, they have lots of ideas for more active things we can do.
They don't care if I do something else, as long as they still get to stay in and pig out.
