Are You Really Ready for the New You?
Are you ready for the comments and surprising changes that can go along with losing weight? Find out!
1
You meet your overweight sister for lunch right after finding out at a Weight Watchers meeting that you've met your 10 percent goal. She greets your happiness with, 'Well, hopefully you'll be able to keep it off this time.' You feel:
Guilty. She's obviously feeling bad that she hasn't lost weight, too.
Happy despite her comment I kind of expected this reaction from her.
Self-doubt. What if I
do
gain it all back?
2
Your best friend asks you to be a bridesmaid at her wedding. What do you say?
"Of course!"
"I better pick up the pace on my weight-loss plan!"
"I don't know … are you sure you don't want a skinnier person in your pictures?"
3
Your weight loss is going great and you're feeling great - then men start crawling out of the woodwork to flirt with you. How does this make you feel?
Nervous but flattered.
Like I want to crawl
into
the woodwork.
Like a million dollars!

You think you deserve a promotion at work. What's your plan for getting it?
I go to my supervisor and explain why I think I deserve it.
I hold off until I lose a little more weight. Maybe then I'll feel enough confidence to approach my boss.
I wait until my boss approaches me.
5
Whose idea was it for you to lose weight?
My partner's (or doctor's, or daughter's, or mother-in-law's).
Mine!
I really just went to a meeting on a whim with a friend.
6
Before, nice comments were few and far between. But since you've started losing weight, you've been getting compliments galore. What's your reaction?
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Irritation. Why wasn't I just as good before?
"Oh, I'm still the same old me."
7
Picture yourself feeling as comfortable as you've ever been. What do you look like?
Overweight.
Like I will when I'm at my weight goal.
Like I did when I was 18 years old.
8
What do you consider to be the most important change necessary in order to lose weight?
Changes in the people I spend my time with.
Behavioral and environmental changes, like what I eat and what foods I keep in my kitchen.
Changes in everything — from what and how I eat to the way I feel about myself.
