Celebrate Success: Meet the Winners!

Out of thousands of Weight Watchers members and Online subscribers who shared their inspirational stories as part of the Weight Watchers Celebrate Success Contest, three amazing people stood out. For Robin, Peter and Michaela, losing weight was only part of the story; they also found healthier lifestyles and motivated others along the way.
Celebrate Success

As Grand Prize Winners, our heroes won a trip for two to New York City for an unforgettable New Year’s Eve experience, along with a $2,500 shopping spree. And we didn’t just make them fend for themselves: Weight Watchers Brand Ambassador Jennifer Hudson gave them expert tips during a special styling session, showing them how to make the most of their amazing new look and lifestyle. Way to celebrate success!

Robin Wahl, New Jersey
The paramedic traded fast-food runs for competitive races

Robin’s daily schedule wasn’t only full — it was overflowing. The mother of five (yep, five) worked the graveyard shift as a paramedic, fueled by fast food and adrenaline. The combo started to take its toll on Robin; in her mid-30s she was on five medications and smoked a pack of cigarettes a day. Realizing that she wasn’t setting a great example as a medical professional, Robin took her sister-in-law up on an offer to go to Weight Watchers meetings where she began to transform her life. She not only lost 70 pounds*, she also quit smoking and started running. The paramedic who once could barely walk around the block is now kicking butt in triathlons.

Pete Fintak, Utah
Internet technician by day, rocker by night

It was a picture perfect day at the beach with Pete and his son — until he saw the photos. Just who was that heavy guy standing next to his little boy? It was Pete’s “a-ha” moment, when he realized just how much weight he’d gained over the years. At his friend’s advice, he subscribed to Weight Watchers Online and was soon 69 pounds* lighter. Now the IT manager’s not only happily posing for beach pics, he’s also got a ton of energy for his second job in a military rock band, for which Pete proudly says his National Guard uniform has never fit better!

Michaela Martin, Florida
Medical student takes on type 2 diabetes diagnosis

At just 22 years old, Michaela was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and hypertension. For the young medical student, it wasn’t just the diagnosis and being on diabetic medication for the rest of her life that worried her, she didn’t want to set a bad example for her patients. When her doctor told her that only one of her patients had ever revamped their lifestyle enough to kick diabetes medication to the curb, Michaela took that as a challenge and subscribed to Weight Watchers Online. She lost 33 pounds* and — you guessed it — became her doctor’s second patient to get off diabetes medication. Now, Michaela is proud to be a true role model for her future patients.
