How to Chiffonade Basil

Step 1
Once you have washed and patted dry basil leaves, stack them in a neat pile of about 10 at a time.

Roll up stack tightly.

Step 3
Slice the stacked, rolled leaves crosswise in thin slices to create a chiffonade, or thin ribbons.

Step 4
Loosen the ribbons with your fingers.
